E.G.WATERHOUSE of ERYLDENE is the story of a life well lived.

Of a scholar, teacher, horticulturalist, philosopher, wit and traveller; of a man who devoted his life to the advancement of learning and the cultivation of beauty. Written by close friend Mary Armati in close collaboration with Waterhouse in the latter years of his life, it was published by Sam Ure Smith at the Fine Arts Press in 1977.

We have just one copy of this cloth-covered limited first edition available [THIS EDITION]. As this is a vintage book, there are some signs of age such as foxing / discolouration.

A soft covered copy by Fine Arts Press was printed in 1983. And a popular version to mark the 25th anniversary of the Eryldene Trust in 2004.

It tells of his life as a teacher, and as a teacher of teachers, of his work with camellias and landscape design, of world travels and interviews with Hitler and Mussolini in 1934. And of his wide circle of friends and colleagues who shaped the Sydney of his lifetime - artists, poets, academics and gardeners.
